Fourth 91Ãâ·Ñ Conservator Gains their Accreditation from ICON

July 2019

Ìý

The team at 91Ãâ·Ñ are proud to congratulate conservator Laura Tempest on successfully being awarded accredited status from the Institute of Conservation (ICON). Laura has worked for the Trust since 2011, and is an accomplished conservator, site worker and project leader. Her external accessors were Linda Ramsay ACR, head of conservation at the in Edinburgh, and Chris Chesney ACR, director of in Warkworth, Northumberland.Ìý

Becoming an accredited conservator-restorer (ACR) demonstrates that an individual practitioner has an in-depth knowledge of conservation, sound judgement, a high degree of competence and professionalism, and a thorough understanding of the principles and ethics which underpins their practice. Assessment for this qualification is both demanding and rigorous. There are over 800 ACRs working in the world, in a range of conservation fields, and the qualification is the equivalent to having become chartered in other professions.Ìý

Although there are several thousands of people operating as stained glass conservators and restorers across the globe, only around 45 people in the stained glass field hold this distinguished and elite qualification. 91Ãâ·Ñ now has an unprecedented four ICON accredited conservators amongst its team, more than any other studio. Due to this, we can guarantee that all work is supervised and led only by ICON accredited practitioners, ensuring that the absolute best standard in conservation is achieved.Ìý
